Obviously, according to analytics, some of my opponents wouldn’t value me as much as they do. According to analytics, you either to shoot a three or get to the foul line, and it’s not good for people like me that live in that mid-range area. “When it comes down to it, it’s all about winning, and however you get the win. “Honestly, how I view it, a computer can’t tell talent, it just can’t,” Gay told NBA.com in September. But as far as that, having respect and knowing my teammates will go to me if they need a bucket or they need to tie the game or they need to win the game, that’s all that really matters.” What comes up and all that stuff … of course I’d like to make all of my shots. Whether my analytic stats are bad or not, they like that. I think everybody on the team would attest that they want the ball in my hands at the end of games, and when they need a basket, they go to me. “Do I think I’m unfairly cast? Yeah, because the things they don’t keep in stats, I flourish at. But I wouldn’t dissect someone’s game over it, personally. It’s always been a good tool for matchups and finding different lineups. “I think it’s a good tool, don’t get me wrong. “However you want to choose to use analytics, it’s up to you,” Gay told the New York Post recently.

Last edited by I Am Awesome-O 11-06-2009 at 02:39 AM.Gay has tried to defend himself multiple times against the advanced statistics that label him as an inefficient blackhole on the offensive end. This simply can't go on all season, thus if he keeps it up, I believe we should send him packing.

We have played five games so far, and he has complained about the team/organization twice already. I love him as a player, but when he is actually on the team you are a fan of, you have to perpetually listen to him complaining about the team. I like Prince a lot as a player, as well as the potential great fit he would be on this roster, but I just wouldn't give up Gay for him.Īs for AI, the guy has been one of my favorite players to watch of all time. I just don't think Prince is enough value for Gay, and a Gay/Conley package could get a better, younger asset than Prince. I only read the part about trading pieces away to accommodate Iverson and that's what inspired that last post. Didn't AI get a few contract offers? And if your hating on AI so much, whats with the sig?Yeah, I did misread your post a bit. Maybe I should have used more spaces in post, people seem to read that better. Maybe the Bobcats? A contender right at the deadline? I still don't think we could get much for him in return though. Still, I don't think we should trade Conley w/o a significant backup plan.Ģ) Trading AI is going to be extremely difficult. People say AI is too old and washed up maybe, but he's still better than Conley. Rather, it's about putting the best squad on the floor. Didn't AI get a few contract offers? And if your hating on AI so much, whats with the sig? This article disputes that, but I don't know either way.ġ) I personally don't think it's about clearing out players for AI. I thought this forum was about possible Gay trade scenerios? I know the pistons are looking to unload TP and need a PG - Conley would work great for us, and you can have another piece from our team that works for you to replace Gay. Sorry if you read my post wrong, I thought I implied two scenarios.ġ. Just think about the consequences Memphis would face before claiming that Memphis should trade Mayo/Gay/Conley in favor of Iverson. They aren't going to move one of their core players in favor of a guy that wouldn't even be in the NBA had it not been for the Grizzlies.

If Iverson keeps *****in' about being on the bench, then Memphis will just buy him out. That means Memphis has wasted an asset in which they have invested so much in and looked moronic in doing so. Let's say they do trade Mayo, Gay, or Conley and then Iverson's contract expires and Memphis doesn't re-sign him. Now think about how little Memphis has invested in the 34-year old Iverson, who incidentally was signed to a one-year contract by the owner contrary to the wishes of the rest of the organization just to boost ticket sales. Think about how much Memphis has invested in Mayo/Gay/Conley. Memphis Gets: Tayshaun Prince/Jason Maxiel/DaJuan Summersĭetroit Gets: Mike Conley/Rudy GaySo, what, just because Iverson complains about coming off the bench we should gut our whole team and all the talent we have accumulated for 3 years just to satisfy him? Yeah, riiiiight. If you want him to work trade Mayo/Conley and Gay to get a SF or PF. In all of your trade scenerios you have AI coming off the bench.still.
